Ronald William Barr, 77 of Urbana, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 26, 1936 in Urbana, Ohio the son of Shirley William and Zelma Irene (Frazee) Barr.


Ronald served his county for 8 years in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Ronald married the love of his life, Paddy, on November 29, 1958 in Malpas, Cheshire, England. He was a lifelong member of the Pearce-Kerns American Legion Post 120, AMVETS 121, and VFW Post 5451.


He is survived by his wife Patricia Elizabeth “Paddy” (Edge) Barr of 55 years; his sons Tony (Denese) Barr of Urbana and Stephen (Julie) Barr of Huber Heights; his daughters Jackie Hall of Urbana and Rosalind (Rick) Corns of Nashville, TN; his brothers Darrell Barr and Robert (Sharon) Barr, both of Urbana; his sisters Carol Dockstader and Bonnie (Gary) Brown, both of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Ronald, David (Jessica), Amanda, Brian (Megan), Ashley (Joe), Jessica (Michael), Tyler, Lyle, Jacob, and Lizz; his great-grandchildren, Kyle, Blake, Madeleine, Dylan, Ian, Bryden, Macy Jane, Charli, and Hattie; and his numerous nieces & nephews.


Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard, Roger, and Ricky Barr; and his son-in-law and friend, John Hall.


A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with Father Robert Ficks III, celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Pearce-Kerns American Legion Post 120 at the cemetery. Services are entrusted to VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to PAWS Animal Shelter, 1535 W. US Hwy 36, Urbana, OH 43078 or to Community Mercy Hospice, 444 West Harding Rd., Springfield, OH 45504. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com.
