Russell E. Bodey, 81, of Urbana, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 in his son’s residence in Wellston, Ohio.
He was born March 14, 1928 in Concord, Ohio, the son of Paul and Anna May (Kiser) Bodey.
He served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict, spending time in Japan. He retired in 1981 from International Harvester after 36 years of service. Russell, also known as Duke, loved farming with his sons and his father-in-law, Garnard Zerkle. Russell recently accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Russell is survived by his daughter, Gloria (Brack) Houchens of Gallipolis, Ohio; sons, Brian Bodey of Urbana, Ohio, Gary (Vicki) Bodey of Wellston, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren: Dorothy, Perry, Tyson, Hannah, Landon, Levi, Billy, Jacob, Rebecca, Jason, Rosemary, Laura, Joshua; ten great-grandchildren, Arabella, Noah, Victoria, Austin, Elisha, Darius, Gabriella, Demetrius, Tylor and Jada; one brother, John (Deloris) Bodey, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Marilyn (Zerkle) Bodey, and brothers, Charles and Richard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in the funeral home with Pastor Harold Moore officiating. Burial will be held at the family convenience in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
