Ruth Jean (Palmer) Lowry, 87, of Urbana passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in Vancrest of Urbana with her family by her side.
She was born November 29, 1925 in South Vienna, the daughter of George and Maudie (Beals) Palmer.
She was a former member of the Catawba United Methodist Church and a current member of the Bowulsville United Methodist Church; she enjoyed singing in the both choirs. Jean enjoyed crocheting, watching birds, an avid collector of roosters and traveling to Florida. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, William ”Max” Lowry; sons, Larry Allen (Phyllis) of Urbana and William ”Bill” David Lowry of Urbana; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jon, Julie, Matt, Josh and Megan; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ralph and Marlin ”Barney” Palmer and her sisters, Mary Goodson and Martha Caplinger.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Stephen Beck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Vernon Asbury Cemetery, Catawba.
