Samuel F. Baldwin Jr. of Urbana, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2017 in his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born January 24, 1953 in Kenton, Ohio the son of Samuel F. and Bonnie K. (Gilmore) Baldwin Sr. He attended Marysville High School with the class of 1972. Later, he studied Horticulture and Philosophy. He worked in landscaping and loved gardening and participated in the Urbana Farmers Market. He delivered the Columbus Dispatch and the Urbana Daily Citizen to residents and local businesses. Sam was an avid musician and writer, in his younger years he was known as the “bass man” for the group Tight Gears.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Dianna (Dean) Baldwin Harshfield of West Mansfield, son Erik Lee Baldwin of Bluff City, Tennessee; grandchildren, Katie (Texas) McCoy, Trenton (Sara) Harshfield, Lily Harshfield and Garrett and Levi Baldwin; sisters, Virginia (Estill) Moore of North Lewisburg, Mary Cline of Middleburg and Leota Rausch of Marysville as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law’s, Jerry Cline and Frank Rausch.
A celebration of Sam’s life will be held form 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 in the Liberty Township Community Center, 21463 Main St., Raymond, Ohio 43067.
