Shirley Maxine Leach
Beloved mother, grandma and great grandma, Shirley Maxine Leach, 88 of Urbana, passed away, Wednesday, May 02, 2012, in her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Cambridge, Ohio on October 2, 1923 to the late Leonard C.
and Estella (Wade) Klass. On January 17, 1943 in Greenup, Kentucky, she married the love of her life, James K. Leach of Jamestown, Ohio, who preceded her in death on January 22, 1986. For many years they had the opportunity to travel across the United States until they settled down in Russells Point. Shirley became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine in 1960 and was active in the missionary guild. She loved the Lord and was devoted to her church, family and friends. Shirley enjoyed having family and friends over for cookouts and play crochet and cards. She loved her homemade ice cream. Shirley made life special for her family. She was known for always having a smile on her face and being sweet and never complaining.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Kathryn) Leach of Canadaquia, NY; daughters, Linda (Ken) Erwin of Urbana, Loretta (Barney) Connolly of Urbana and Becky (Don) Trainer of Omaha, NE; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Jim) Johnson of Cambridge, OH.
Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob, Laverne and Jack Klass.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastors David Murray and Patrick Gerwitz officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Hughes, Robert Trainer, Caleb Farmer, Darren Leach, Don Trainer, Barney Connolly, Ken Erwin and Tom Oakley.
