Terry E. Miller, 62 of Urbana, passed away, Friday, April 15, 2011 in his home.
He was born November 3, 1948 in Bellefontaine, Ohio the son of Max and Wanda (Wolfe) Miller. Terry was a 1966 graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School and attended Bluffton College. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Charlie Company of The Old Guard in Washington D.C. during the Vietnam era.
He retired in 2001 after 30 years, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He was first assigned to the Dayton Post for 9 years and then was transferred to the Springfield Post for 13 years. Terry was promoted to Sergeant and spent his remaining 8 years at the Piqua Post.
After retirement from the Patrol, Terry was employed as a Bailiff for the Champaign County Family Court for 10 years.
He enjoyed creating stained glass lamps and hangings, gardening and reading. Terry was a supporter of high school and local sports. He volunteered as a former coach with Urbana’s youth sports, in both baseball and soccer.
Most of all, Terry was an excellent dad, husband, son and brother.
His survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jennifer (Thompson) Miller, his sons, Ross and Ryan, mother, Wanda Miller all of Urbana; his sister, Cathay (John) Youngs of Beavercreek; his mother and father-in-law, Don & Kathleen Thompson of West Liberty, his sister-in-laws, Cindy (Steve) Neer, Robin (Steve) Godwin and Deanna (Mark) Kauffman all of West Liberty; his nieces & nephews, J.T., Courtney, Lyndsey, Kelsey & Emily and a host of friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in the funeral home with the Rev. Lee Ortman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
