Having fought the good fight, having finished the race and having kept the faith, Chaplain Timothy Bryan Massie, 43, of Mechanicsburg, answered the final call, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in the Ohio State Medical Center, with his family by his side.
He was born February 6, 1968 in Delaware, Ohio and was a 1988 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. After graduating from high school, Bryan worked at Chet’s IGA and then, he retired from Honda in the “Weld Shop” after 18 years of service. He attended the Lawrenceville Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and spending time with family and friends. For the past several years, Bryan’s passion, has been serving as Chaplain for the Mechanicsburg Fire Department. He has completed extensive course training and received many certificates pertaining to counseling and pastoral care. Chaplain Bryan based his life and his passion on the scripture, Isaiah 40, 31 – but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Chaplain Bryan Massie will be sadly missed by his family and friends; his survivors include, his loving wife, Sarah Massie; his daughter, Emma Lee Massie; his mother, Patty Lou Massie of Mechanicsburg; sisters, Judy (John) Hoffman of North Lewisburg, Karen (David) Ropp of Urbana and Cathy (Richard) Wiskirchen of Mechanicsburg; brother, Steve (Elaine) Massie of Urbana; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Pansy Blair of Mechanicsburg; brother-in-law, Dean Blair of Springfield; sister-in-laws, Darla (Doug) Northup of Lawrenceville, Christa Sanderson of Urbana, Susie Blair of Springfield and Stephanie Foreman of Mechanicsburg; nieces & nephews, Patty Hoffman, Brent and Brandon Massie, Shawn and Shonda Massie, Shane and Nick Dugan, Molly and Peter Blair, Megan Hickman, Randy Northup, Zach Davis and Wyatt Sanderson; as well as several great nieces & nephews and many friends.
Chaplain Bryan is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Massie, his brother, Michael Massie and his nephew, John Dugan.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012 in the Christian Fellowship Church, 4401 Allison Rd., Mechanicsburg. Funeral services to Celebrate Bryan’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 in the church with Pastor Alan Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual.
