Verla “Dickie” (Conley) Love, age 81, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, answered God’s call to come on Monday, January 10, 2011.
Verla was born on February 15, 1929 in Kentucky to parents Leck and Stella Conley. She married Earl Love on April 30, 1946 and together they raised six children and were blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A biological mother of six, Dickie was a mother to many others in her lifetime and will be remembered for her giving, loving, and nurturing sweet nature and her sense of humor. Dickie was formerly a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ in Christian Union for many years and most recently attended Kennard Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Love, parents, brother Delmas Conley, and one grandchild, Sarah Davis. She is survived by her daughters Linda (James) Baldwin, Sarah (Norman) Violet, and Connie (Bill) Byers, sons Michael (Debbie) Love, Kenneth (Ann) Love, and Joseph (Kim) Love, grandsons Kevin (Sabine) Violet, William Baldwin, and Ryan (Terri) Love, step-grandson David Knochel, granddaughters Kendra Violet, Heidi (Tony) Jackson, Michelle Love, Heather (Adam) Sorensen, Karen (Aaron) Stillings, and Meredith Love, step-granddaughters Konnor Byers and Jennifer Stewart, great-granddaughters Kenzie Stillings and Lily Sorensen, great-grandsons Cooper Hudson, Douglas Violet, Gabriel Jackson, Carson Love and Case Stillings, step-great-great-grandsons Dominic Stewart and Donovan Taber, sister, Ann Hubbard, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Tony Carter.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Skillman, McDonald and Vernon Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday with Pastors Steve Anstine and Dene Anstine officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
