Virginia Marie Collette Maxwell, 92, of Urbana passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 in her home.
She was born August 17, 1920 in Cable, Ohio the daughter of Dalton and Jennie (Valentine) Collette.
Virginia volunteered at Mercy Memorial Hospital where she had volunteered for over 10,000 hours and received a President’s Award. She enjoyed watching TV, square dancing, Big Band music and was an avid collector of Boyd’s Bears.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Barbara (Wallie) Hartman of Indianapolis, IN, Roger Cantley of Althus, OK, Carol Nolte of Urbana and David Phender of Seattle, WA; great nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Michele Nolte both of Urbana, Collette, Tammy, Greg (Margie) Nolte of Urbana and Kirk; 10 great-great nieces and nephews; cousin, Phyllis (Harley) Collette of Urbana; dear friends, Mary (Lawrence) Watkins of Mingo, Sister Edith and Sister Virginia of Urbana and Shirley (Dick) Clark of Hilliard.
Virginia is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dalton Eugene Collette, Jr. and sisters, Thelma (Robert) Nolte, Mary (Frank) Warden, Lucille (Homer) Cantley and Dorothy; as well as nephew, Wayne Nolte.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses from Universal Hospice and to Virginia’s caregiver’s, Sheryal, Heidi, Annie and Connie.
Following Virginia’s wishes her body will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012 in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana with Pastor Richard Rohrer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health & Hospice Care, 701 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Services are entrusted to VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
