Vivian L. Murphy 87, of Urbana passed away, Saturday, July 10, 2010 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.
She was born August 20, 1922 in Mutual, the daughter of David H. and Flora (Lucas) Long.
Vivian was a 1940 graduate of Concord High School. She retired, after 43 years of service as a bookkeeper and treasurer with Brown Publishing Company.
She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church. Vivian enjoyed traveling and was a member of TWIG.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise (Pete) Freeman of Findley, Ohio, her grandchildren Lisa Barrett , Michael (Susan) Freeman; great grandson, Christopher Barrett, brother, David (Jo) Long of Wilcox, Arizona, sister, Virginia Cole of Urbana, several nieces, nephews and many special friends at the Mercy McAuley Center. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of Mercy McAuley Center and to the Community Mercy Hospice for their kindness and care.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milford Murphy, sisters, Lillian Hanger, Louise Long & Kathleen Wickham and a special friend, Glen Lincicome.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in the funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Gregory Konerman officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
