Walter W. Jackson 79 yrs, of North Lewisburg, passed away, Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the Gables at Green Pastures, Marysville.
He was born July 26, 1931 in Cable, Ohio the son of Edith (Jones) and Harris Jackson Sr.
Walter attended North Lewisburg Schools. He retired from The Scotts Company after, 36 years of service. He was a member of the 20 – 30 year club at Scotts. He was an active member of the Middletown Church of God. Walter volunteered for 25 plus years with the North East Champaign County Fire District serving as Assistant Fire Chief for many years. He worked in the past for Freshwater and McDonald Funeral Home as well as other funeral homes in the area. In the past, Walter managed the North Lewisburg Ball Park. He was active in 4-H with his children and grandchildren and he loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rose Mary (Heizer) Jackson; his sons, Rhawn (Jenny) Jackson of Cable, OH, Robin (Jodi) Jackson of North Lewisburg, OH, Rex (Teresa) Jackson of Springfield, OH; his daughters, Shelley (Gary) Huffman of Cable, OH, Deana (Robert) James of Belton, TX, Sherri (Herman) Ericson of Marysville, OH; his daughter-in-law, Darlene Jackson of Cable; 21 grandchildren and 28 great- grandchildren; his brothers, Harris Jackson Jr. of South Carolina and Robert Lee (Vi) Jackson of Atlanta, GA; his sister, Josephine (Eugene) Hildreth of Urbana, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Katherine (Spain) Jackson, his son, Rodney “Steve” Jackson, his grandson, Scott Byrd and his sister, Alice Bolyard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in FRESHWATER, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, North Lewisburg. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the Middletown Church of God 6205 St. Rte. 296, North Lewisburg, Ohio 43060 with Pastor Robert Instine officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice, 655 Metroplace, suite 270, Dublin, Ohio 43017.
