Walter L. McFann I, beloved husband, father and grandfather, departed this life Saturday, February 26, 2011.
He was born August 21, 1934 in Pike County, Ohio the son of Reese Ivan and Elsie Mae (Woodell) McFann.
Walter worked at Grimes Field prior to retiring from Grimes Manufacturing as a toolmaker. He served his country in the United States Air Force and enjoyed airplanes and all things related to aviation. Walter was particularly proud of the Flying Lab and his involvement from its inception to the currently restored version flying today.
He will be sadly missed and remembered by his loving wife of 52 years, Wanda Lu McFann; sons, Mac McFann and Clay (Beth) McFann; daughter, Lori (Rick) Rose; his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Ryan and Brooke McFann, Alyssa (Josh) Wick, Nicholas and Amanda Rose, and Audrey and Brenna McFann; special aunt, Betty Moore; Sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Lowell) Harner and Barbara Edwards; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill McFann.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
