Fred Crain, 82, a lifelong resident of Mechanicsburg, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 10, 1930 in Mechanicsburg, the son of Albert Dewey and Beulah (Borders) Crain.
Fred was a 1949 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He was the Owner & Operator of Crain Pole Buildings & Excavating Company. He was a faithful and active member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. Fred was a Charter Member of the Mechanicsburg Lions Club for over 56 years and was a past Mechanicsburg Village Council Member for 13 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Crain; daughter, Kay Crain (Jerry) Barker of Mexico; sons, Ken (Beth) Crain of Springfield, Ohio, Kip (Becky) Crain of Wooster, Ohio and Ky Crain of Springfield, Ohio, his grandchildren, Brad and Chris Lilley, Kristin and Lindsay Crain, Mandy Paule, Tiffany Crain, Kelly Schaller and Alyssa, Andrew and Ashley Crain, great grandchildren, Drew, Dylan, Eli, Isaac, Adam, Nathaniel and Haley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ray Crain and a nephew, Mark Crain.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 in the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Burial will be held at the families’ convenience in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church, 42 N.
