William Edward “Whitey” Louden, 90, of North Lewisburg, went home to be with the Lord at 11:50 AM on July 15, 2015. He was born July 24, 1924 on Louden Street in Urbana, Ohio to the late Elmer and Ruth (Coffey) Louden.
Whitey was a graduate of Urbana High School and played basketball and football. He continued to follow Urbana sports avidly his entire life. For many years, Whitey enjoyed coaching fastpitch softball and baseball in North Lewisburg and West Liberty. He was also a member of the Urbana Community Players and enjoyed dancing. Whitey was a member of the North Lewisburg Friends Church and later the Mt. Carmel Friends Church. As a church member, he enjoyed singing solos and duets with other church members. Whitey retired, after 45 years, from Louden Brothers Tool and Die Machine Shop.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Timson) Louden; his 2 sons, Thomas (Rhonda) Louden, of Riverside, CA and William Kip Louden, of North Lewisburg; his 3 daughters, Beverly (Louden) Mackey, Kim (Louden-Westfall) Brannon, daughter-in-law, Maria Louden and his daughter in Christ, Frances (Foughty) Heizer; and his 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Whitey was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Harl Louden and Robert Louden; his 2 sisters, Mary (Louden) Quimby and Alma (Louden) Stimble; his son, Robert; and his daughter, Kathy (Louden) Brannan.
A memorial service to celebrate Whitey’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in the FRESHWATER, McDONALD, & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, North Lewisburg with Pastor Jim Chess officiating. The family will receive friends for 2 hours prior to the service.
