William C. “Bill” Midgley, 82, of Fairborn, Ohio, formerly of Mechanicsburg, Ohio died Friday July 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born June 19, 1933 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio to Walter Earl Midgley and Margaret Elizabeth (Dean) Midgley. He worked as an operating engineer and was a member of the Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F. & A.M. and was involved in the B-17 Bomber Project. He also enjoyed construction work, woodworking and square dancing but mostly he loved spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife Barbara; sons, Bill Midgley of Plain City, Allen (Jennifer) Midgley and Todd Midgley both of Urbana; step-children, Donna Mowen and Michael Mowen both of Xenia; grandchildren, Liza (Jade) Souders, Sarah Heffner, Abby (Nicholas) Smith, Kristen (Clayton) Jones, Will (Heather) Midgley, Lela, Chad, Sean, and Katie Midgley, Greg Stafford and James Mowen; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Shane Souders, Rylan Heffner, Colton and Cameron Jones and Trevor Midgley; as well as his sister, Margaret Venrick.
He was preceded in death by both parents, sisters; Francis Saxton, Erdean Green, Carol Clark and Grace Midgley along with brother, Walter Midgley.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Masonic services will follow at 7 p.m. Following his wishes, Bill will be cremated. Condolences may be expressed at www.vernonfh.com
