Rev. William “Bill” Nicholas, 83 of Urbana, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in his residence.
He was born October 17, 1925 in Coe, W. VA the son of Lora (Hammons) & Everett Nicholas.
Bill served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a minister for over 40 years. He ministered for many years at the First Freedom Baptist church in North Lewisburg. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the Masonic Harmony Lodge #8, F. & A.M.
He is survived by his children, Linda Clay of Camden-On-Gauley, WV, Jean Roberts of Craigsville, WV, John Nicholas of Calvin, WV & Daniel Nicholas of Camden-On-Gauley, 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his brother, Everett Nicholas of Charleston, WV, his sisters, Maxine Faulkner of Cowen, WV, Susan Mace of Hackers Valley, WV and Sylvia Thompson “much loved cousin raised as a sister” of Durbin, WV as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Doshie Nicholas, his parents, his daughter, Shelia Kay Christian, a son, William S. Nicholas, a brother, Lloyd Nicholas and great grandsons, Matthew Christian & Lucas Riley Hinkle.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME Urbana, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 p.m. in the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual.
