William Riley Flemings, 85 of Mechanicsburg, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in Urbana Health & Rehab.
Riley was born August 8, 1936 in Mt. Gay, West Virginia the son of the late Hayes and Mary (Bryant) Flemings. He served his country in the United States Navy. There, he met and married Opal Louise Copley on April 16, 1957. Together, they had 4 boys. Riley was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Urbana, Ohio. Riley enjoyed country music, bluegrass and gospel. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye football fan. But most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.
Riley is survived by his sons, William "Bill" (Hattie) Flemings, Danny (Dorothy) Flemings, Aaron (Julie) Flemings and Jeffrey (Tracy) Flemings; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; siblings, James "Jimmy" (Sue) Flemings, Glen (Oma) Flemings and Maxine Flemings; half-brother, Ronald Flemings; step brother, Rocky Sperlock as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Doug, Gary, Thurman and Edwin Flemings, Evelyn Brunty and Faye Lafferty; half-siblings, Caroline and Jerry Flemings.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Samples officiating.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
