William J. “Billy” Williams 44 of Mechanicsburg, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008 in Heartland of Urbana.
He was born August 26, 1964 in Dayton, OH. Billy was a 1983 graduate of Lawnview and he was employed by Lawnview Industries. Billy participated in the special Olympics for the past 30 years in a variety of events.
For the last 23 years, He has held the honor of Mechanicsburg’s # 1 fan. He was an avid sports enthusiast of Mechanicsburg Indians Sports and of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Billy was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his parents, David and Janet (Shockey) Williams of Mechanicsburg, his maternal grandmother, Catherine Shockey of Urbana; his sister, Cathy Weidner of Toledo, his brothers, Michael (Esperanza) Williams of South Solon and Gary (Lisa) Williams of Reynoldsburg, his nieces & nephews, Jamie, Ryan, Casey, Lyndsay, Anna, Alex, Auston and Cameron, his great nieces & nephews, Jezelle, Jordan, Riley, Jakob and Lucy; as well as many friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home Mechanicsburg. The family has requested for those attending to wear either Mechanicsburg Indian’s Colors or Ohio State Buckeye’s colors in honor of Billy’s spirit for his teams. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church with the Pastors, Rev. Dr. Harley Roston, Rev. Bruce Tumblin & Rev. Dr. Thomas Tumblin officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to funeral services. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Mechanicsburg. Memorial contributions may be made in Billy’s honor to the Mechanicsburg High School Athletics Boosters or to the Band Boosters, 60 High Street, Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044.
