Willis K. “Willie” Anderson, 100 a life resident of Mechanicsburg passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 in Mercy McAuley Center.
He was born September 5, 1908 in Mechanicsburg, the son of Elmer and Ellen (Mattox) Anderson.
Willie was a trouble shooter for the telephone company and he retired from International Harvester. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Willie was a great resource on the history of Mechanicsburg. He will be sadly missed by his many life long friends in Mechanicsburg.
He is survived by his son, James “Jim” Anderson of Mechanicsburg, his great grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Collins of Urbana, Ryan Anderson of Mechanicsburg and Tiffany Anderson of Mechanicsburg, great great grandchildren, Heather and Selena; numerous nieces and nephews of generations as well as special friends, Shirley & Duke Dozer, Ron & Brenda Williams and Dale Roach.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Tressie Anderson, his daughter-in-law, Ruie Anderson, his grandson, David E. Anderson, great grandson, Benjamin Anderson; his brothers, Robert, Bennie, John and Joe and his sisters, May, Bernice, Louise & Annie.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
