Winifred Naomi Neer 91, of Mechanicsburg passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in Mercy McAuley Center
She was born January 21, 1917 in Lena, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry G. Heath & Edith (Campbell) Kemp.
Winnie retired from Grimes Manufacturing, after more than 40 years of service. She was the second female hired for Grimes. She was a member of the Grimes Quarter Century Club. Winnie enjoyed golfing at Woodland Golf Course where at the age of 78 she hit a hole in one. She also, enjoyed archery, bowling, jogging and was an avid sports fan. Winnie traveled as well and was a member of the Rock Hound Club.
She is survived by her daughters, Edith Faye Vinson of Marysville and Fredda Rebecca (Mark) Westfall of Woodstock; her grandchildren, Wandella Jean Vinson of Marysville, Damon (Sherry) Smith of North Lewisburg, Heather (Bill) Hayes of Naperville, IL and Amanda Westfall of Woodstock; 11 great grandchildren and 16 great, great grandchildren; a brother, Garner (Emma) Heath of Pennsylvania.
She is preceded in death by parents and a sister, Adelaide Stockwell
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:30 – 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Lieker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual. Serving as pall bearers; Damon Smith, Bryce Smith, Shane Ervin, Shade Ervin, Shannon Ervin & Shawn Ervin. Memorial Contributions may be made to Mercy McAuley Center’s Activity Department.
