Zoey Alexandria Lockwood, 19, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
She was born July 13, 1991 in Columbus, OH the daughter of Barton Lockwood and Susan Bell.
Zoey was a 2009 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. She loved to write poems, hang out with her family and friends and her cat “Toes” and new dog “Jack”.
She is survived by her father, Bart (Cindy Gilbert) Lockwood of Mechanicsburg; her mother, Susan (Todd) Bell of Mechanicsburg; sisters, Samantha Lockwood of Urbana, Emma Lockwood of Mechanicsburg and Anna Bell of Mechanicsburg; grandparents, Edwin (Shirley) Lockwood of Urbana, Charles (Betty) Parmenter of Grove City, Frances (Lowell) Bell of Rushville and Brenda (Jim) Ryan of Lancaster; aunts, Edie Corfman of St. Paris and her children, Matt (Vanessa), Amanda (Jake), Kurt and Lindsey, Judi (David) Chittum of Columbus and their son, John Harley (and his daughter, Madison); uncles, Ed (Lori) Lockwood, Jr. of Missouri and their children, Chelsea, Simonne, Jared and Samuel, Robert Parmenter of Thurston and his children, Chelsea, Carissa and Chase, Scott (Julie) Bell of Breman and their children Josh and Joey; her cat, Toes and her dog, Jack; as well as a multitude of friends.
Zoey is preceded in death by one of her closest friends, Brandon Dees and friend, Cody Laird.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship Church with Pastors Mark Miller and Paul Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Serving as pall bearers will be Matt Snyder, Luke Snyder, Ryan Davis, Jordan Davis, Kurt Lockwood, Bryant Smith, Bryant Shaw and Alex Alltop.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Kitchen, 300 Miami St, Urbana, OH 43078 to be shared with Changing Lives Ministry – The Sims Program: A Drug Rehabilitation Program in memory of Zoey Lockwood. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com.
